Had a lengthy period of examinations not stopped me from doing so, I would have uploaded this long ago, but such is life.
My copy of the Dark Vengeance Limited Edition arrived today, and it is sweet. It contains 1 Chaplain, 1 Librarian, 1 Commander, 5 Deathwing Terminators, 10 Tactical Marines and 3 Ravenwing Bikers on the Dark Angels side, a hefty 3 HQ choices, 1 Fast Attack and 2 Troops (if the rumours of the new DA Codex are true)
On the Chaos side it contains 1 Lord, 6 Chosen (models at last!), 10 cultists with autoguns, 10 cultists with pistols and close combat weapons and finally a Hellbrute, which looks very similar to the Fallen Dark Angel Dreadnought on the cover of the book Deathwing...

A shot of all of its contents

The box in all it's blood-splattered beauty
I'd like to preface this by saying that Dark Vengeance absolutely ****s on Assault on Black Reach. In that kit you got nothing worth remembering save the Deffkoptas, and the Space Marine side wasn't even a legal army. In that kit the Space Marines bar the Captain were more bland than white bread, and the orks were absolutely heinous models when compared to the new Ork Nob kit. Here that's not the case. Being a Dark Angel fanboy myself I was delighted to see them become GW's new posterboys, featuring on the pain set, the new rulebook and now the starter set! Begone, spawn of Guilliman! Your time is over!
The models in this set are intricately detailed, from the Dark Angels iconography adorning all of the Tactical Marines to the dynamic poses on the bikers, the sheer magnificence of the characters and the amount of trinkets on the Deathwing. Hopefully this means a Wolf-Guard esque Deathwing kit is on the way....
The Chaos marines are beautiful, no longer Space Marines with spikes. Every inch of their armour is corrupted, spiny and downright evil, and I'm now looking forward to the Traitor Legions codex with great enthusiasm. If you look carefully you'll see the two corrupted Mk IV helmets worn by two of the Chosen, and the Lord's model is just pure badass. The cultists are amazing, every aspect of them hinting to their origins and their treacherous affiliation. For all those that have wished to collect an Alpha Legion army, the time has come. Finally, the Hellbrute is just spectacular. It embodies exactly what a Chaotic Dreadnought should look like, and at the 2nd Edition Chaos Dreadnought I laugh. The box is split up into four separate frames with a single one for the Chaplain in the style of their Warhammer Fantasy plastic character blisters. Two are dedicated to the unique models for Chaos and Dark Angels, with the other two holding the duplicate models. There are 14 duplicated models, which I find quite disappointing; they could have given us another four Chosen to make a 10 strong squad, and given each cultist a unique pose, but those are little niggles.

These are the two duplicate frames

Interrogator Chaplain Seraphicus, in all his snapfit glory. I must say, for a snapfit, he has extraordinary detail, and his head is normal size, so you could swap it around with another if you so choose.

The Dark Angels frame. I like the Company Master, and since I'm getting another one of these kits I'll be using the pair of them as an Honour Guard for Azrael when the new Codex is released. Great-sword wielding Space Knights in robes? Hell yes.
